In addition to attending various technical presentations in the first LEED certified bus garage in Canada and participating in networking activities in a building considered to be the most important cultural project in Quebec, discover the European charm of the historic streets of Old Québec and contemplate the majestic St. Lawrence river as you enjoy a guided cruise

End:                                    Friday 19 May 2017 at 3:30 p.m. in Québec City

Québec, national capitol of the province of the same name and one of the gems of UNESCO's world heritage, welcomes you! You will be thrilled by your visit at the Château Frontenac, the world’s most photographed hotel, and by the city’s centuries-old architecture.

The visit will include the following tours and activities:

 



Guided tour of Quebec City’s historic district

Please allow us to share with you the historical details of Quebec City!  As you discover the streets of the only fortified city in North America, you will learn about the major events that have shaped this city and its citizens since the beginning. Your guide, a fervent admirer of his native Quebec, will enthrall you with fascinating stories concerning its rich religious, military and architectural heritage. This three-kilometer pedestrian circuit will lead you to Quebec's Parliament Hill. You will learn about the Parliament’s architecture, its symbols and traditions.

 

·         The guided tour will be offered in English and French

·         With a minimum of 5 people*: tours in Spanish, Portuguese and Italian.
* Based upon availability of guides: tours in German, Dutch, Russian, Polish, Mandarin, Japanese and Arabic.

At the time of registration, please indicate your mother tongue, so as to allow us to create language groups other than French and English, if required.





 

Cocktail buffet at the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec

We are happy to invite you to a cocktail buffet in the heart of the most important cultural project in Quebec, the Pierre Lassonde pavilion of the Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec (MNBAQ). This new world-class building is the fourth pavilion in the museum complex, and it was designed by an architectural consortium consisting of the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) of New York and the architectural firm Provencher-Roy of Montreal.






 



Guided tour of the Metrobus Service Centre of the Réseau de transport de la Capitale

In operation since December 2009, the Metrobus Service Centre of the Réseau de transport de la Capitale is the first LEED Silver certified bus garage in Canada. The guided tour will not only provide you with a detailed description of the high-technology equipment and building specifications, but you will also have access to the control room, which offers you an operational overview of the entire fleet of buses of Quebec City’s urban transit network.

 






A cruise on the St. Lawrence River

This cruise on the St.Lawrence River, with a commentary provided by a guide in a period costume, is an opportunity to discover the city of Quebec, starting at the Old Port of Quebec. You will be thrilled by breathtaking views of l’Île d’Orléans, the Montmorency falls, Cap Diamant and the Château Frontenac. A perfect blend of nature and culture! Relaxation and pleasure guaranteed!

Arrival of participants by train at the Gare du Palais and transfer by chartered RTC bus to the Château Frontenac

Check-in and lunch

1:30 p.m.

Rendezvous at the Samuel de Champlain monument, near the Château Frontenac, the point of departure of the guided tour of Quebec City’s historic district (3 km on foot)

4:30 p.m.

Return to the hotel and one hour of leisure time

5:30 p.m.

Departure by chartered RTC bus to the Musée national des beaux-arts

6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Cocktail buffet at the Musée national des beaux-arts

9:30 p.m.

Return to the hotel and free evening

Before 10:00 a.m.

Breakfast at the Château Frontenac (at the expense of participants)

10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Transportation by chartered RTC bus to the Metrobus Service Centre and guided tour of the building. Technical presentations in a lunch and learn environment:

 

· Bus rapid transit (BRT) project

· Operational support and customer information system
(RTC Mobile)

· Planning methods

· Network infrastructures (parc-o-bus, exchange hubs and all-weather terminals in partnership with private institutions, etc.)

· Hybrid buses and their “stop/start” feature

 

1:00 p.m.

Return to the hotel

1:30 p.m.

Trip by RTC bus to the point of departure of the Louis-Jolliet cruise

3:30 p.m.

Return to the hotel and departure of a train shuttle toward Montreal (transfer to the Quebec City airport at the expense of participants)

 

The proposed tour includes:

•          Local transportation between the different activities

•          Guided tour of Quebec City’s historic district

•          Cocktail buffet at the MNBAQ

•          Two lunches (May 18 and 19)

•          A cruise on the St-Lawrence River

•          Shuttle service between the train station and the hotel on arrival and at departure

 

No payment is required of participants, with the exception of the expenses below. The proposed tour does NOT include:

•          Rail transportation between Montreal and Quebec City

•          Accommodation at the Château Frontenac

•          Breakfast on May 19

•          Snacks and drinks purchased by the participants onboard the Louis-Jolliet

•          Transportation to the Jean-Lesage International Airport in Québec
