LA RÉFÉRENCE EN

TRANSPORT EN COMMUN

AU QUÉBEC

Surveys

The following two surveys were conducted by CROP on behalf of the ATUQ.

September 17 to 22, 2014 – Public perception of public transportation funding and of potential funding sources

96% of the respondents consider public transportation as an essential service. This survey also indicates that the perceived advantages of public transportation are above all economic rather than environmental. In addition, according to the survey results, the two levels of government, as well as the private sector, should increase their financial contribution to public transportation. Survey results (French only).

January 16 to 19, 2014 - – Quebecers’ perception of public transportation funding

In light of this survey, the ATUQ and its members learned that citizens from all regions in Quebec attach considerable importance to public transportation and its funding. Indeed, 88% of Quebecers are of the opinion that the Quebec government should invest more in public transportation and 56% feel that the funding of public transportation should be borne by both the government and the municipalities. Survey results (French only).
